Layering, Pearls & Men's Jewellery: The 2026 Trends Worth Trying

Necklace collection at Swift Quartz Jewellers Winnipeg

Not shopping for a ring? 2026 still has plenty for you. These are the three trends our stylists are most excited about, and every one of them works in real Winnipeg life, not just on a runway.

1. Layering, but make it intentional

Stacked necklaces aren't new. What's new in 2026 is the curation. The formula stylists swear by:

  • Short: a choker or snug chain (40-42cm)
  • Middle: a pendant that means something, like an initial, birthstone or locket (45-50cm)
  • Long: a chain or lariat that draws the eye down (55cm+)

Mix textures, pairing a delicate cable chain with a bolder Cuban or Figaro link, and don't be afraid to mix metals. Yellow, white and rose together is officially a look, not a mistake.

Winnipeg tip: layers live beautifully over turtlenecks and under scarves. A long chain over a black merino roll-neck might be the easiest chic outfit of the winter.

2. Pearls with personality

Forget prim single strands. 2026's pearls are baroque, uneven, sliced and interrupted: strands broken up with raw metal or leather, single off-round pearls on chunky chains. They read modern, warm and a little rebellious, and yes, men are wearing them too, from NBA tunnels to red carpets.

One care note from our bench: pearls hate Winnipeg furnace air. Wear them often (they love your skin's natural moisture), keep them away from perfume and hairspray, and store them flat, never in a sealed plastic bag.

3. Men's jewellery goes mainstream

The fastest-growing category in the industry isn't a gemstone. It's men's jewellery. Chains, signet rings, bracelets and earrings are now everyday wear for men of every age. What we're seeing most in-store:

  • Curb and Cuban chains in silver and gold, worn solo or doubled
  • Signet rings, often engraved with initials or a family motif
  • Watch stacking: a good watch worn with a bracelet or bangle on the same wrist
  • Upgraded smartwatch straps: swapping the stock band for leather or steel instantly elevates an Apple Watch or Garmin. We stock premium bands for Apple, Samsung, Fitbit and Garmin.

Start small, wear it daily

The best trend advice we can give: buy one piece you'll wear constantly rather than three you'll save for occasions. Fine jewellery is meant to live on you.
